Memorial

Hi, my name is Darlene. I adopted 3 pets from friends who were moving to Singapore. Very soon after, one of the cats named Ink developed a bump as big as an egg under her chin. The vet gave anibiotics but advised me that Ink would need to be put down because the growth was cancerous.

A few days later I saw Ink sitting on the bed looking out the window up to the heavens. It was such an odd gaze. I knew the end was near. My heart sunk and Ink spent the day wrapped in a blanket in my arms. She was 15 years old and at midnight, still in her blanket in my arms, she closed her eyes, took a deep breath and died.

I was so deeply affected in my grieving that I called the Vet blaming him for not having done more. The Vet, a longtime friend and experienced in his profession understood what I was going through. He left messages on my voicemail and wrote me a loving hand written condolence letter. He went out of his way and understood that my anger was due to my loss and wrongly directed at him.
What a great vet! My children brought me to my senses in realising that nothing could have been done.

Ink was burried in her blanket. Her spirit is nearby.

Thanks for sharing my story. I hope it helps others 🙂
